# My spider plant that had been beautifully full and healthy is…

_Geplaatst door Maia op 2023-07-06_

My spider plant that had been beautifully full and healthy is drooping and turning yellow from the top down. I had to move its location and it immediately started doing worse and now it’s lost more than half its leaves and looks awful. What could be going on?

Looking for more info… Was it doing ok before you moved it? Has it been having a rough time near the crown or crowns? Is it close to an air conditioner vent? Has it had irregular watering—like got too dry for too long or overwatering? Fertilizer just before the trouble started?

It was great before I moved it! Previously it was going brown down at the tips: now it’s going yellow from the crown down. It is not close to AC or a heater. It was overwatered when the leaves were going brown/crispy; I let it dry out and it seemed to recover, but now it’s acting differently than before and doing even worse. I did give it fertilizer last month bc I thought maybe that was the problem, and then it immediately got worse.

I’ve killed several of them unfortunately. I think my problem was irregular watering. Too dry when I got around to it and flooded because I wanted to fix it. Maybe the too dry wasn’t as much a problem as the too wet. I’ve been seeing posts where people advised not fertilizing when a plant is sick.
I just looked that up. If you might have over fertilized there’s fixes for that. Like scooping of soil from the top of the plant or repotting. If you think it might be that the plant was repeatedly overwatered repotting might be a good idea. Either a pot with better drainage, or improved size (too big leads to overwatered plant because soil doesn’t dry as well between watering). Or the same pot washed clean and fresh soil.
I have a bad habit of over explaining so forgive me if I have. I can’t tell how much plant experience you have from your profile

Have you checked closely for pests? Spider mites for example?

Yes, nothing like that anywhere

Thank you so much, this is so helpful. I will repot!
