# Hi everyone! I’m a new plant parent and have had this prayer plant…

_Posted by Farah on 2023-07-02_

Hi everyone! I’m a new plant parent and have had this prayer plant for about three months now. He has been sprouting all kinds of new growth, which I’m very excited about.

However, he’s getting a little heavy. I very recently repotted him due to being root bound, and I noticed he’s leaning over pretty heavily to once side.

Should I use a stake or something and tie him upwards? Or is it okay to leave the stem and plant leaning to the side?

I’m very new to all of this, so I apologize if this is a bit of a newbie question!

Mine is sprawling too. I started to worry until I saw another plant mom’s and she had it on a medium-high shelf and hers was happily trailing down the length of shelves. It was healthy and happy so I’m going to let mine do that too. As long as it stays healthy.
(I told her that I might hang mine then and she mentioned that it gets really heavy)
I’m going to let it be what it wants to be. Might take some cuttings and make new plants too.

Most plants throw a little fit after being repotted, and these plants are known to move around so I would be too worried! Just keep an eye on it and it should perk up!

mines trailing a little, tends to happen as the stems get longer. they love to move around so i wouldnt reccomend staking them :)

Good to know! I think my favorite thing about my journey collecting and caring for plants has been learning how each plant has its own “personality”.

I put two stakes in mine and part is still trailing. I love it!!
