# Hi! I’m not sure what’s going on with my fiddle fig, can anyone…

Hi! I’m not sure what’s going on with my fiddle fig, can anyone please explain why the leaves are browning, she isn’t over or under watered. I know I need to change the pot she’s in cause her roots are growing out of the holes. Can I salvage the brown leaves or do I have to cut the whole leaves off, and what can I do to prevent the rest of the leaves from browning in the future. I hate having sick plants 😭😭😭😭

I’m having the same issue. Setting a humidifier nearby to see if it helps.

My plant list a few leaves but is looking healthier since giving her fiddle leaf plant fertilizer.

If you’re seeing roots growing out of the bottom it might not be getting enough water despite you watering correctly. It probably needs to be repotted.
About the brown spots, you can: 1 cut away just the brown that isn’t going to benefit the plant any more, 2 cut that leaf back near the stem, 3 let the leaf due back naturally and see if it is one of those plants that self-heal dead leaves at the stem so that you can just gently pull the dead leaf off without any resistance (like letting a scab heal itself on your body—eventually the wound heals to the point a scab isn’t necessary and it sloughs off. Leaving minimal scarring)

Hope #3 was’t gross. But nature works itself out.
Too many dying leaves would be different because the plant wouldn’t be able to streamline its energy well and might become vulnerable to insects and disease.
Holistic approach.

Thank you Rhonda! I’ll repot and let the leaves heal itself or die off hopefully it works 🤞🏾

are you using distilled water?

#### Plant mom antwortete am 2023-07-06

No, should I be? I use regular apartment tap water. Don’t judge me 🙈

depending on where you live, your water could have a lot of chlorine in it that the plants don’t like. Distilled water can be expensive and hard to find certain times of the year. You can try putting out a pot of water and letting it gas out for a while. It will also help your humidity levels.

if you want to keep the leaves, you can actually cut off the browned parts. this leaf here had about an inch of brown around most of the edge and was trimmed to the same shape of the leaf

Okay, this doesn’t look bad seeing how it’s cut. Thanks for sharing!
