# Discovered fungus gnats in my plants two weeks ago. I sprayed neem…

_Publicado por Garnet locks el 2023-07-01_

Discovered fungus gnats in my plants two weeks ago. I sprayed neem oil/ dish soap/ water mixture on the top soil, put in gnat sticky traps and I am letting my plants dry out a bit to deter further gnats. But it doesn’t seem to be working so far, any suggestions?

I saw someone suggest sprinkling cinnamon on top of the soil

Oh, I’ve not tried this before

Honestly, I’d move them all outside and let the ones inside die. Then one at a time hose the whole plant down and get all the dirt off. Wipe the leaves down with neem, spray the roots with peroxide, and repot making sure the new soil has mosquito bits in it and is a really good chunky, well draining mix. It’s the only way to be sure you got rid of them. They are a huge pain to get rid of them in my experience.

😩 it is such a pain! Do you find that other bugs get into your plants when you leave them outside?

It just takes a long while as they have a quick egg/birth cycle… so to fully eliminate you need to treat both active and soil/eggs.

I love those zevo blue light sticky traps + systemic insecticide . That plus having the plants dry out more/water at bottom for a while usually will work.

The cycle certainly has felt on going! Thanks for the suggestion

I use Arber organic products. I haven’t had an issue since making the switch. I use their plant food, bio insecticide, and bio fungicide. The use microbiology to kill the pests and diseases!

Thank you for the suggestion, I e not used Arber products

They’re typically about $25 for individual bottles (16oz), but they are on rollback at Walmart for $15. FYI 🤗
