My string of hearts Isn’t doing so well. I think I might of over watered it. I’m leaving it alone but it concerns me that the stems are Turing black… is she a goner? Also this pot has drainage holes.

What do you think it is?

You’re right! It might be a string of turtles!

Okay, so good news and bad news…Bad news is that your plant isn’t a string of hearts; it looks exactly like my plant, a Pilea libanensis, on here called “silver sprinkles” or a type of “baby’s tears”. Good news is that the plant is completely salvageable and pretty easy to prop and grows quickly :))

How should I save it?

You can trim back any dying bits, and you can literally just take one (or a couple) of the strings and wrap them around the bald spots of the pot and it’ll root pretty easily (I’ve used Bobby pins to put them in to help the pups root and not move around). They like the soil to stay a bit but not super saturated so well-draining soil will definitely help, maybe water when ~ 1/3 of the top is dry (?). You can look up care instructions online - I find YouTube pretty helpful for me (I’m also just a plant nerd haha)

Care will be easier now that you know what the plant is too! It’s hard to tell through pictures how the plant is doing (roots, dryness etc) but I don’t think it’s doomed, it just needs some adjustments to start thriving :)
