# Hi I’m trying to figure out what’s wrong with this white bird of…

Hi I’m trying to figure out what’s wrong with this white bird of paradise I had see little spiders in the soil and figured it was spider mites. I sprayed it with neem oil, but there’s still a few webs and such. I don’t know why it’s rotting at the stem. It’s kind of squishy.

Sometimes spraying isn’t enough. Try getting a rag and wiping down the leaves with the neem oil. Usually plan rot due to too much water. Does the pot have drainage holes?

Yes it does I had given it a shower on rubbed it with been oil bout a week ago seems to have improved a little since then but I’ll def not water as much

I use 70% isopropyl alcohol to spray and wipe down leaves

I heard that from a friend to actually but never tried it

I do that as well. Just had spider mites on my Alocasia and sprayed it with a mix of about 3 parts alcohol to 1 part water using 91% alcohol and after doing it two or three days they were gone. I’ve done it for aphids on hibiscus also with amazing results and no damage to plants from my uses.
