# Hi friends! I was just given these two plants and am trying to save…

Hi friends! I was just given these two plants and am trying to save them. I replanted the pathos into a pot with a drainage hole and repotted it with new soil, it seemed to have bad root rot. I removed all of the dead leaves and wrapped it around a lamp to give it room to stretch and grow.

The second corn plant I have no idea how to help, it was pretty dry so I gave it a new layer of soil and watered it! Any tips or tricks are very welcomed! Thank you all and I hope you’re having a wonderful day!

I would keep an eye on the pothos, when it comes to root rot it’s difficult to salvage as it may be completely gone. Second plant from the looks of it looks tropical. I haven’t owned this one before. My guess would be to use the tropical soil as it has proper nutrients and help with drainage. I would repot with new soil pitch the old stuff. Prune any leaves to help with new growth. For now set in indirect sunlight and water whenever the soil gets dry 1inch feel if it’s still moist you don’t want to risk overwatering. I love using the Planta diagnosis feature helps a ton or use the tool that identifys the plant Google if you don’t want to spend $35 for a year. It’s saved me with all my plants and questions 😊

But if the container doesn’t have proper drainage it will suffocate the roots which can also cause overwatering resulting the yellow leaves

I have two of these corn plants, and one of them is in this exact condition… the leaves are badly sunburned! I left it outside for a few hours in the afternoon and the leaves got burned and faded like this. Do not repot unless the soil looks bad; just cut off the badly burned leaves if the look of them bothers you, and move them away from direct sunlight on your porch. Even bright indirect sunlight outside can scorch these leaves! They actually grow very well indoors in a darker condition too.
