# My corn plant has really been struggling lately and I’m not sure…

_Postat av Mint den 2023-05-25_

My corn plant has really been struggling lately and I’m not sure what’s up. I’ve had it for a couple of years and it’s always been very green with strong leaves but over the past several months (beginning in late autumn) its top leaves have started to turn tan/get translucent and it’s bottom leaves, although green, are always wilted.

For some context, this all started while it was cold out so the plant was indoors and under a grow light until about mid-April.

It’s now out on my porch in the shade. I’ve changed its soil (roots looked good - bright orange - when I did that) and am watering it about once every 7 days although it gets watered more frequently if it rains in between.

Did the dry parts on the top part appear after moving it out again, or while under grow lights indoors?

While under the grow light, though it was just lack of color and tan-ish then, the spots that look properly brown happened after the move

Okay, It sounds like it might have been slightly dry soil initially? And then when moving it out it might have gotten a little shocked from the change perhaps, causing further damage to already stressed leaves?

Oh yeah, that might be it. Do you think I should just leave it be for now and give it some time to adjust? The good news is that it doesn’t look like it’s getting worse; it’s just been about 2 months so I sort of expected it to be improving a bit more at this point

The affected parts won’t heal, but the plant can make new leaves better adapted to the new spot after some time 🙂
