# I don’t know if this is a bad question but I bought a Hoya that came…

I don’t know if this is a bad question but I bought a Hoya that came with mealybugs. Hypothetically couldn’t I just transfer it to water \& then no more bugs? Of course I would remove the soil from the pot because they lay eggs in there, then put the Hoya back. It’s just so time consuming dealing with them \& even when I treat it by spraying it down with alcohol \& killing the bugs they keep coming back.

Your best bet is to probably change the soil, give the plant a good rinse, and keep an eye on it. Also, after doing the above, try a mix of 3 parts water, 1 part dish soap and a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle, and spraying the plant once a week, twice a week if needed.

Oh, also spray the soil with the mix. If you have it, you can also add a drop of clove oil to the mixture.

Thank you so much!
