Help my Stripped Calathea!
I got my Calathea in December as a graduation gift. It was already is bad shape when I received it and I’ve been working to revive her as I know these plants are sensitive. She is in a self watering pot with tropical plant soil. I only water it with melted room temperature snow water for now, and will be watering with rainwater as we get into spring. Through the environment change and repot she was doing okay, stable but not thriving. In the last 2 weeks she has gotten a lot crispier. The areas around the crispy edges are yellow, and it keeps progressing. She currently sits in my west facing bathroom windowsill, receiving ~3 hrs of direct light and lots of indirect light. The environment is relatively humid, with 1-2 showers a day. I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to better care/ revive her! Thanks! 😁

What type of soil Mix are you growing it in? ☺️
It looks like it’s having problems with absorbing water properly and this is often caused by root issues. Drought is of course the most common cause but root rot is also very common. It is often caused by too compacted soil/lack of proper drainage.

I’m growing it in a store bought tropical soil mix! I read that these plants like acidity which prompted me to plant in that soil type and only use rain/snow water. I fluffed the soil the other day, it was moist but not wet. I read that it’s a great plant for the self watering pots but now I’m skeptical 🤔

You might want to try a different pot. I personally have never had much luck with self water pots, my plants always seem over or under watered. If you don’t want to repot try removing the water it’s using to self water and water it by hand!
