# Anyone have experience with beneficial bugs like lacewings for…

Anyone have experience with beneficial bugs like lacewings for example? I have a lot of plants and I’m at the point where I really don’t want to deal with pests too much. Mostly just not very good with treating them

Debating about ordering lacewing larvae. So…

Does anyone have experience with lacewing or other beneficial bugs?

If so, how difficult is “applying” them to the plants (I.e. placing them on the plants in a safe and effective manner)?

Are they effective?

Are they more preventative? Treatment option for current infestations? Or can they function as both?

Are they bothersome? All of my plants are indoor plants and a good chunk of them are in my room. Managed to take care of a gnat problem fairly well but when the gnat problem was bad…it was REALLY annoying

If anyone recommends them, any recommendations for where to buy them from?

Thanks everyone! Sorry for the long post

I have worked professionally with beneficial insects and have experience with most of the ones being used 🐞
Lacewing larvae (Chrysoperla carnea) are mostly effective against aphids. They can eat very young nymphs of mealybugs too but not very effective against other pests. I know that they are sometimes recommended against mealybugs.

Applying them is super easy. You either spread them out among your plants or place a card box container where they will crawl out of themselves.

They are very effective against aphids mostly. What pest are you battling against?

Beneficial insects are mostly preventative or should be used combined with other treatments, for preventive cause or to keep down an infestation. I would not recommend them as only solution if you have an ongoing infestation that’s are difficult to control.

The lacewings bugs can be slightly bothersome because they can bite humans but they are totally harmless ☺️

Agreed with the above, and want to add that I would not recommend releasing lacewings inside as they do fly.
The most common indoor insects that I’ve known people to get are beneficial mites which are helpful to use on spider mites (which are the most common indoor problem-pest)
