# One of my ZZ’s has dramatically yellowing leaves, and several others…

_Pubblicato da ehmé telegotre il 2023-03-05_

One of my ZZ’s has dramatically yellowing leaves, and several others have mildly yellowing - thinking it is connected to low light in winter since I use a water meter to make sure I don’t overwater?

Also contemplating a connection to temperature as the home doesn’t have central heating (it can get cold inside, but doesn’t drop below 50 even at the coldest).

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome, thank you in advance!

Both of these plants only need about two waterings a month during the winter if you’re not over watering I would suggest checking the roots to make sure there isn’t any root rot \& that they aren’t root bound. Do this under bright light and keep an eye out in the soil and on the roots to scan for pests as well. Both my ZZ and my Pilea suffered from mites because they love the dry soil I was getting yellow leaves/immature leaf drop I saw them upon very close soil inspection when repotting, never really saw activity on the leaves. If you do find pests in the soil- I would completely rinse down the whole plant with a lot of water getting every leaf and removing all the contaminated soil from the roots. Once you repot add bonide systemic pellets to fresh soil to keep those critters away and spray the plants with Captain Jack’s dead bug spray or a insecticide of your choice. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for the response \& advice.
I recently repotted the plant shown (combined a few small individual zz’s together in one pot) and am watering only after the soil is completely dry.
Sounds like it might be worth repotting again under bright light to closely inspect the soil.
Thank you again!
