Any advice on keeping a cat away from plants? I have non-toxic and toxic plants to pets with the toxic ones nigh impossible to reach. She has an obsession with nibbling on everything even a Chinese evergreen which is supposedly toxic (I moved this to out of her reach). Any advice on how to dissuade? I’ve tried orange peel and vinegar near the pots, aluminum foil, and cat grass. Any advice is appreciated!

I can’t get my cats to leave my plants alone. They even eat artificial plants. The only thing that works is keeping my plants on shelves that my cats can’t get onto and in a grow cabinet.

I would check out how serious they actually are. I have a cat that chews my plants from time to time(but nothing major) and I just figure if it burns her mouth it will be a good lesson. I usually don't even check if a plant is toxic or not, i just trust thats she's smart enough not to chow down.

Yeah I looked up Chinese evergreen and it’s supposed to irritate their mouth and could do worse things if they keep eating it. She chewed through almost four leaves and they’re quite big so I thought she’d get the idea and stop but it doesn’t seem to bother her, to my dismay

That is bad. I've heard of spraying plants with pepper spray or cayenne pepper. I've kinda wondered if it might burn the leaves but I've never tried it, so I wouldn't know.

Who knows tho. She might still make a snack of it😂

I have a bitter spray that sort of works but it’s also really aggressively scented. I had success with rearranging my plants so the more toxic ones are out of reach and blocking some off with cat grass containers

I place mi e out of reach as best as I can. I have lots of tall stands. Sometimes it’s just impossible. Just make sure ones they can reach are not toxic.

I cannot get my cat to stop chewing on my plants. So I’ve had to compromise unfortunately. No plants within her reach. I opt for hanging plants or ones to set on high shelves. I also stopped buying toxic ones just to deter from possible ER runs.
