hi!
the leaves you put in soil should root and grow pups in a few weeks to a month! you dont have to worry about watering it, as it will get all the water it needs from the mother leaf.
its also not nessicary, but if you want, you can lay the leaf on top of the soil, rather than burying it. (ive attached a picture of my props for an example, two of which have pups!)
leave it somewhere super sunny, and simply forget about it!
when the original leaf dries up, and the pup can be easily pulled off, then you can give the baby its own teeny pot! continue to give as much light as possible, and water when the soil is dry.

as for the main stems, you can leave those alone, as they will grow new sprouts! remove the dead leaves, give as much light as possible, and let it be.

also, what kind of soil is it in? if the moss in the pot is real, it retains a lot of moisture, which can be bad for the plant, as succulants like to be dry between waterings. you might want to repot and give it a nice, well draining, chunky succulant soil. remove any dead or unhealthy looking roots, and make sure the pot is only 1-2 inches bigger than the root ball.
hope this helped, and good luck!

I mean the stems in the original plant may be salvageable too (the green two). This is a jade? I would just have laid the leaves on top of the soil not buried the stem end - that is where your new growth will come in. I would water once a week or so (water then let things dry out totally). I would aim for the same thing with the stem just make sure it is totally dried out

If that’s a Jade, I’d strongly recommend pots with drainage holes. I’d recommend the same for basically any plant. Prevents water sitting in the bottom of the pot and drowning/rotting the roots. Terracotta pots also work well for jades as they’re succulents.

Also the leaves can really just be left on the surface of the soil and they’ll root fine. You’ll even see little leaves appear.
