# Anyone have any tips on how to improve care for this Dracaena? She…

Anyone have any tips on how to improve care for this Dracaena? She has suffered with root rot and fungus gnats in the past and is still growing strong but constantly gets brown tips or spots on the leaves. Current situation is just watering when the soil gets dry and having a grow light on for 12 hours

How do they get root rot ?

Overwatering. In my case the pot was too big so the soil stayed wet too long for what the roots needed. It’s in a smaller pot now with a chunkier soil to help prevent that in the future.

They can still get root rot in a good sized pot if watering is too frequent or if soil retains too much moisture

I read here on Planta to try Silica Gold ( there are other brands), which I found on Amazon. It is supposed to help with cell health… to help with brown spots and tips. I have just started using it. Worth a try maybe.

Are you watering with tap water? Or something like distilled or rainwater?

I have been using tap water but could start using distilled instead. Thank you!
