Kinda cool to see them even though they are pests. Agreed! To add to that, a batch of eggs was laid at once so could potentially be several of them. We call them sumo wrestlers because they are so chunky and strong! They can eat a lot and more the bigger they get. I would spray off your plant with water to remove any poop and then keep an eye out for new poop and new damage. The bigger they get, their poop gets bigger too. It becomes obvious to see. I always look above the larger poop to find them. They are the exact same color as the tomato stems. Whoever finds it first gets $1. That motivated them more when they were younger.😄 A 16 year old has better things to do than look for a tomato hornworm for a dollar.😄 But he will pull it off for me if we find it.
