Hi I’m a total beginner in planting 😄
I got this monstera about 2 months ago. It sits on the ground near a west-facing window and I water it every week. I started mixing food plant in the water starting 2 weeks ago.

It has not been growing and the leaves don’t look very happy 🥲 Any advice??

Make sure the plant is drying out before watering it don’t just water every week without knowing if it is dry as the plant may need you to water it more than that or it still could be a lil wet and need a lil more time. Put ur finger in the down the side of the plant in the dirt and feel it. If that freaks you out get a wood chop stick and place it in the dirt if it comes out clean water if it’s dirty with a bit of dirt sticking to it then leave it for a few more days. Also you can squeeze the bottom of the pot if it feels really tight it may need a repot.

Monsteras are kinda slow growers so I wouldn’t be too concerned. It might still be getting established in the new environment.

They are quite heavy feeders though, so make sure to fertilize

What kind of soil do you have it in? It’s hard to tell from the pics. Monstera need a good chunky soil that is very well draining. I mix potting soil, perlite, and orchid mix together. I may start even adding more orchid mix or straight up wood chips to make it even chunkier though. In the spring, my monsteras have been putting out 2-3 leaves at a time, so it should be putting out at least a new leaf or two once every 2-3 weeks right now if it’s happy.

That soil is way too dense to be watering weekly, repot into an aroid soil mix and water whenever the soil is dry.

It’s growing since you have a new leaf coming out. Mine is very old, sits outside in half sun half shade. It puts out a new leaf about every 6 weeks. The leaves are huge since root system is large. The largest leaf in the center is the newest.

Fertilize every 2 weeks with 50% diluted liquid fertilizer in the warmer months.
