Help! My monstera I thought was initially making a new leaf but it’s browning. Any ideas on the problem?

Maybe the leaf got a small cut somewhere and it got a infection so to prevent it from spreading it will kill that part of the leaf where the phylum was carrying the bacteria

Wow! Maybe. I feel like the soil isn’t adequately drying between watering, so I’m worried too about potentially root rot.

Root rot is a possibility and a big one at that but I wouldn’t worry about it too much unless more leaves are damaged. If that continues then repot the plant in a different soil with lecca clay beads scattered throughout and get a natural fertilizer in pellet form the spritz with water once a day and water it once a week, hope this helps and have a great day

Looks like the sheathing drying out. It should not be an issue if the rest of the plant looks fine. If that’s a new leaf rotting, then, check for root rot. Change the soil if needed, and cut out rotting roots. Water only when the soil completely dries out. Don’t follow a strict watering schedule. 🪴🍀
