# Hi all, I recently planted about 9 of these 3’ Karl Foerster Reed…

Hi all,

I recently planted about 9 of these 3’ Karl Foerster Reed Grasses in individual 12”x12” plastic pots (with drainage) into three 12”x36” Corten outdoor steel planters.

After about 3 weeks of frequent rainstorms and sun, they are looking very pale and brown, with the exception of 2. I did not add additional fertilizer when repotted but used organic indoor/outdoor potting mix.

Can anyone please help diagnose if they have been overwatered by the rains, or under watered? What should I do next to help bring them back to health?

I also ordered some liquid fertilizer to try if needed.

These are beautiful ornamental grasses. Check the roots for rot. The rains could have caused overwatering. Mushy smelly dark roots are signs of rot. 🪴🍀
