Hi!
I’m in need of some help/advice. This is my Mexican snowball. It started to get super tall over the course of the last year or so, and now new babies are forming on the spots where leaves originally were on the stem. More and more leaves keep dropping off the top part as more little babies appear on the stem. What is happening? Is there something I am doing wrong? Is that normal growth like a burros tail grows (where it will slowly branch off more and more?)?

Any and all information or advice is welcome (heck I might even have the wrong plant species for all I know, I went off Planta’s photo examination)

I don’t think it is a snowball. I think it’s a pachyverium or a pachyphytum. So it’s not even an echeveria. Growth habits are totally different. The growth habit of yours is more inline with a pachyveria or pachyphytum. First pic is my Mexican snowball.

That’s completely normal growth for a succulent. In fact that means your plant is very happy! But if you don’t like the look of the stem you could always cut it (make sure to keep a couple nodes) and plant it back into the soil.
