My mom’s pink princess philodendron has a growing brown spot :( it started to appear when we brought it home what could it mean?

Is it on one of the older leaves? If so, that’s okay, the plant may just be getting rid of it to save energy for new growth

Otherwise, there might be something wrong with the roots
