my lipstick plant has a bit of damage on a few leaves, all in this weirdly regular zigzag pattern. can anyone identify what this is caused by?

That looks like a pest issue. The cut is so defined that has to be from a type of bug. I would do some research to see how to care for it. Most likely there’s nothing you can do to fix that leaf. But there are ways you can go about caring for the whole plant to make sure the rest of the leafs don’t get affected.
