I bought this ZZ Raven about two weeks ago and put it in a room that gets lower light than the other rooms but it does get some filtered SE afternoon light. Today I noticed it looked a bit unsightly, not at all the healthy plant I brought home. One of the unfurled young leaves just fell right out! It was in a self watering pot with very loamy soil. I removed the exterior pot and plan to repot ZZ in a clay pot with a soil of mixed all purpose potting soil and cactus potting medium before giving it a good soaking, the current soil seems quite dry. I welcome any suggestions for helping Mr. ZZ here. 😊

Pots too big. Overwatered. They like well draining pots and soil they don’t like to be in very bright light and make sure when you repot it the pot is 1-2 inches bigger then the root ball.

I think you are on the right track. A breathable pot and well draining soil. I think the pot diameter is not too bad. I would have a tendency to go a little shallower if possible but probably isn't entirely necessary.

Just make sure the cactus mix isn't heavy on peat. That would retain moisture. Go for one that's a gritty sand based mix.

Zz likes to go completely dry, well draining soil and to be snug in the pot 🫶🏼
