i’m totally new to the fern world but i grabbed this guy for $4.
He hasn’t been repotted but he was watered recently and his roots looked fine. I added perlite to the bottom of the nursery pot because it was straight soil and hard to break up without hurting the delicate roots. Once it dries out more i’ll repot with something thicker. Additionally I want to get a semi-closed glass container to keep up some humidity but not too much. Any recommendations will help.

I thought the fuzziness was similar to a velvet alocasia in that it STAYS ON. Apparently not. I sprayed and wiped with Neem oil and it started coming off.. so I stopped and dabbed up any excess.

Driving it home I noticed a weird smell coming from it. Is it like a normal fern smell? I didn’t see any rot so I’m confused.

Any tips or info is welcome. TIA
