# I don’t know who needs to hear this, but I just want to remind people…

_Posted by ArchNouveau on 2025-08-18_

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but I just want to remind people sometimes it’s ok to let go.

I’ve been fighting spider mites mealybugs in most of my outdoor plants on and off this summer, and it was causing me such an extraordinary amount of stress and anxiety that I finally decided it was best for my mental health to throw in the towel and get rid of them. It was a really difficult decision I didn’t come to lightly, but I feel a weight lifted off of me now.

Always remember you are the most important plant in your collection, and you have to take the best care of yourself first. A hobby should be a net benefit to your life and add to your peace and happiness, not take away from it. When you’re dealing with persistent plant problems, take some time to consider if it’s detracting from your life and you’re spending a lot of time worrying about it, it may not be worth it. Give yourself some grace.

Very good points. I let my girl go last year. Mealybugs! She was one of my very first hoyas!😢

The spider mites are driving me mad on my outside plants this summer!
