I have fungus gnats :( does anyone have a good remedy? I have sticky traps \& just started using mosquito dunks to kill the larvae… I have heard they are super hard to get rid of. Anyone have any tips?

Definitely change the soil \& wash your plant \& the pot it’s in with soap before repotting. Rinse well. There’s also an indoor raid spray that’s safe for plants. Green can.

you’re doing the best right now! can’t do better than dunks and sticky traps! i would not spray any other pesticides or anything in my home, personally

the dunks will definitely work — just keep treating

Can someone explain what a dunk is? Like bottom watering but with mosquito bit water? Or taking the plant out of the pot and letting it sit in mosquito bit water? Or is top watering with mosquito bit ok?

A mosquito dunk is the same thing as mosquito bits, it’s just larger \& in a donut shape! I am soaking them in water and then top watering with that

Your soil is staying too wet for too long and the fungus gnats are laying their eggs in the damp soil. The life cycle of a fungus gnat is about 5 weeks, so that's how long it can take before you know you've succeeded at getting rid of them or not. Tanner the Planter has a great video about this on TikTok. Just type "Tanner the Planter fungus gnats" and you'll find it!

I've been fighting fungus gnats myself, and it's best to let the soil dry out between waterings so that the gnats won't want to live there anymore, as the habitat will be unsuitable for them.
