# Good morning, is there anyone give me advice? Since we have changed…

_Publié par Jenny le 2025-03-18_

Good morning, is there anyone give me advice?

Since we have changed the pots and soils, our plants seem getting ill.

Especially one pot, keep having white mould so I changed several times but it seems happening again.

The plants also seem to have really dried out, even though the soil is still wet (leave becoming brown and dying).

I’d appreciate any advice.

Thanks,
Jenny

I'm not an expert by any means, but are you using the same soil from the same bag to repot?
If so…
It could be something inside your soil.
Just a thought.

Sounds like overwatering. If leaves are still appearing dry and wilted, but soil is wet, then the roots have probably died. Research “root rot” to analyze and possibly find a fix.

As someone who would frequently over care plants to death I agree that it sounds like root rot. Sometimes letting it dry out completely can help a little to save them but depends entirely on the plant and how far the rots gone.

The soil looks like regular potting soil, which is too dense for most houseplants. I would switch to something with lots more drainage or add your own ammendments.

Peat moss, excess watering, an oversized holding too much slow drying soil can promote fungal growth and gnats. The plant must be able to dry out all the water before the next watering. The pot should be just wide enough to fit the roots with about an inch extra width.

Replace the soil with one that doesn’t contain peat and has lots of perlite. Reduce the pot size, if needed.
