Cinnamon on the soil. Idk why it works but mine steer clear. Also helps with fungus gnats

Only thing that works for me is putting them out of reach

Strong smell by the plant, I’m not a plant expert, but I’m great with animals, and cats don’t enjoy strong smells like perfume.
