I found this tiny thing on a plant I bought recently, and I was wondering if it’s scale? It was a bit stuck on the leaf but did come off with a bit of gentle force, I didn’t notice it damage the leaf thankfully so I thought I’d share it and see if anyone recognises it.

I don't recognize it but you described a hard shell scale.

When I google hard shell scale it does look somewhat similar to some of the images, I wish I’d been able to get my photo in better focus😅

Scale. There are many varieties. Treat the plant and soil with insecticidal soap. Their babies lay under the adults. 🍀🪴😬

Thank you for the heads up! I’m glad I kept it quarantined from the other plants now 😭😅

You did well inspecting and isolating new arrivals. A lot of people don’t thoroughly check their plants and are surprised by the fast growth of hitchhikers. Scales aren’t easy to spot until they multiply.
