# My roommate's Silver Splash has this cream/ yellowish fuzzy mold…

_Publicado por Smquatt el 2024-04-21_

My roommate's Silver Splash has this cream/ yellowish fuzzy mold growing all over in the new mix it was just repotted with. The potting mix is coco coir + perlite + potting mix. Other plants were repotted with the same mix and none of them have mold. The silver splash seems otherwise healthy so far...
Is this an issue? If yes, how do we treat it?

it could be due to root rot, or just mildew from moist soil and where it’s located

Could be mycelium, I saw someone else say it’s a sign the soil is healthy.

Google “Mycelia are of vital importance to the soil as they break down organic material for use in the soil ecosystem. Beneficial mycelia increase the efficiency of water and nutrient absorption of most plants and provides resistance to some plant pathogens. It is also an important food source for many soil invertebrates.”

Google “Mycelium serves an important function in the decomposition of organic matter in the soil. Some research has demonstrated that it acts as a filter, removing ground water contaminants and pollutants.”
