Hi!! I’m new to this app and to being a bonsai caretaker!

My boyfriend got me an Azalea bonsai tree for Valentine’s, however I haven’t been able to take much care of it due to me living in a dorm and not being able to allow it outside. With the end of the semester ending soon I brought it to my family’s house to take care of it, however I have little siblings and pets and I saw something about my tree being toxic to humans and pets. Does anyone know if this is true? And if so does anyone have any advice on how I can take better care of it, and keep my family safe?
