# Hi everyone, I’m sorry for the info dump. I’m a total novice to…

Hi everyone,

I’m sorry for the info dump.  
I’m a total novice to bonsai and new to this group, but I’d like to start getting into it because I find it fascinating.  
I wanted to know how do you start a bonsai project, I have a lemon tree which I’ve attached below; my mother gifted to me and it was in poor shape so I managed to get it looking a bit better.

I live in Belfast and I get full sun on the balcony where it stays during summer; I think it’s west facing window.

I believe I have it in an all purpose potting, citrus soil and a bit of mulch. I haven’t repotted it since I received it; so it’s in its nursery pot. I’d like to maybe repot but not sure what you all think. This is its most recent state. It has more leaves now.

I want to know how I can make a bonsai out of it, how if so and any tips and tricks I could learn from. Also any advice or suggestions for soil mix, pot mix, and techniques would be massively appreciated 🙏
