# If I’m going to be traveling, what is the best self-watering option…

If I’m going to be traveling, what is the best self-watering option for my indoor plants (mostly tropicals)? All of my plants are already potted (with a drainage hole of course), so I’m considering the water globes and/or the terracotta spikes with a bottle of water upside down in it. Are either of these good options/best practices? Additionally, humidifiers won’t be running, so curious how long I could be gone without humidity. Appreciate your insights!!

I'm not convinced any of those spike things wouldn't drain in less than a few hours. I would go with wicking cord, but I haven't tested it with a separate reservoir, only with bottom-watering pots. Test before you go on vacation. And if any plant needs high humidity, consider getting a transparent tent for it.
