Today’s plant fact: bromeliads :
Although many bromeliads can grow in soil, they don’t need to use their roots. This is because in the wild bromeliads use aerial roots to hold onto tree branches.Instead using their leaves or ‘crown’ to get nutrients and water. The reason bromeliads grow on branches is to get as much sunlight as possible because bromeliads normally grow on the ground floor where there is little sunlight.
