# This is my first ever Monstera plant and it arrived damaged with two…

_Posted by Zoe on 2025-06-21_

This is my first ever Monstera plant and it arrived damaged with two break points along the stem. I know it’s not salvageable so i’d have to cut it off. But do i cut it at the base at an angle? And is the little thing poking out a new growth point? Will it grow if i cut the other broken one off? I’m brand new to monsteras and really disappointed

I’m not exactly sure what to do since it’s a new plant (personally I would get a refund) but don’t be discouraged. They grow so fast and are very forgiving. This plant is only three years old. I bought at about it at 9” high though. I’ve propagated twice to other people. Even then look at what I’ve trained her to do in three short years…
