# A friend of mine was gifted a large Monstera about a month ago, after…

A friend of mine was gifted a large Monstera about a month ago, after struggling with where to put it in her home and her AC damaging the leaves, she asked me to rehome it. I’ve never had a Monstera before and I’m looking for some advice on how to ensure that it has the best home here. When she transported it to my house, many of the leaves got bent on the stem. Other leaves have crispy black spots that were caused by her AC. I’ve cut off all the leaves that were completely black, but I’m just looking for some advice on what to do to possibly strengthen the stems that have been bent in transport. Also, what to do with the leaves that have some black marks, but not the majority. I don’t want to significantly cut back the plant, for fear of shocking it too much after it just changed locations again after only a month. Thank you for your help!

Moss poles are a great way to support the plant! I use them in mine to try to keep it growing upwards instead of out to the side.

It’s got two short moss poles in there! Maybe I need to get a taller one!
