From the loooks of it is not thrips…. Looks like discoloration from the plant being at a department store and not being taken care of properly! If you want to save it you definitely can!

If you don’t like how it looks you can also chop that leaf off. It looks to be a monstera??

No sorry to be confusing. I would still spray it down with a pesticide to be safe though
