Hi, im new to owning plants and i bought this one today but its roots are already growing out of the plastic pot. I’m not sure what to do, should i wait. The plant is a Monstera Obliqua ‘monkey leaf’.

i would transplant it into another pot and leave the root ball alone, being root bound for too long can harm the plant

would you recommend a plastic pot or a terracotta pot

my adansonii thrives in a terracotta but i’m definitely no expert on pots!

I’ve learned that repotting into nursery pots (clear if you can find them) and then housing it in a cache pot is SO MUCH better if you’re just learning about plants.

You can see the roots, you can see if the soil stays too wet, you can see pests in the soil, etc. I wish someone would have told me this when I was just learning.

ok thanks for the advice.
