My monstera has become pretty top heavy with the lower branches being much thinner than the top. I am considering repotting. Should I attempt to air layer or just let it flourish?

I would chop \& prop and maybe make a moss pole for it down the line

I agree! It could also stimulate more growth towards the base of the plant to give it a more full look once it all starts growing back.
