just got my first monstera (a mini monstera, i believe)! two leaves have a crunchy brown part which i'm assuming is due to underwatering but input is greatly appreciated, as well as other tips!

Unfortunately this is not a monstera. What you have is actually a raphidophora tetrasperma, nicknamed mini monstera for the leaves. I’d say it doesn’t change the care too much though. I would agree that it’s underwatered

The same happened to the new leaf of my giant monstera. Apparently, mine was scorched by the grow light bouncing off the wall behind the plant. If it’s too close to the walls, the draft from the AC / temp changes will also affect it more.

Unfortunately, the affected parts of the leaves will not grow back. The mission now isnt to get rid of the damage, but to prevent it from worsening further.

Hope this helps! 🌱☀️
