# The two most recent leaves that my mini monstera has pushed out don't…

The two most recent leaves that my mini monstera has pushed out don't have any fenestrations. Any thoughts on why this could be??? It's an otherwise healthy plant and has been growing very well.

I would think maybe a lack of light? They grow fenestrations to allow sunlight to pass through to the lower leaves. You may also need to prune some of the lower leaves.

Hi! I just realized that by “mini monstera” you meant the rhaphidophora tetrasperma. Though it’s nicknamed the “mini monstera”, they’re actually not related to the monstera deliciosa. The care is a little different. I have one of these as well but haven’t had any without fenestrations as I have with the deliciosa, so I’d say do some more research on that using its genus and not the nickname.
