# Hi! I just have a question… why does my plant have brown spots on it?…

Hi! I just have a question… why does my plant have brown spots on it? I got it a couple of days ago, the soil is still wet, and I have a grow light that goes for 8 hours due to the area it’s placed in. What do I do?

Okay this is a total natural thing that you should not be worried about. It looks like all the brown spots are/were on the variegated spots (white parts). The parts with variegation have no chlorophyll which is how the plant conducts photosynthesis. So these parts naturally die off quicker than the rest of the plant because (besides the beauty) they are completely useless.

It’s a normal thing, I wouldn’t worry abt it.

I would suggest making sure the grow light isn’t too close.
