I see questions pretty often about Monsteras’ aerial roots so I wanted to share mine, which is on a sphagnum moss pole! The 2nd and 3rd pics are to show the roots going through the pole!

I have been thinking about a coco coir pole vs a true moss pole PSA for weeks!!! 👏

Yesss! It’s understandable why people get confused. But yeah coco coir poles are basically just stakes 😭

Now that’s a chunky soil mix 🤩 Love it!

Ty!! The Monstera loves it. Chunky perlite, bark, and coco chips!

I’ll add that sphag moss is pretty hydrophobic when it dries out so it can be a pain to water. I use a bottle and invert it at the top of the pole to let it slowly absorb — otherwise it just runs over the sides and the middle stays dry \& roots won’t be able to get in there

Same here! Then between waterings, I’ll use a squeeze bottle like this just to moisten the moss around the roots (only when the moss is crunchy)
