Help! I just potted my monstera that I’ve propagated a while ago. How soon will I see new leaves and when can I start adding liquid fertilizer? It’s the first time I’ve done this so I’m very excited to see my plants grow!!

It depends what soil you potted it in. Many commercial soils are pre-fertilized, some even slow release for up to several months. You’ll also want to give it time to acclimate, it’s a stressful change! The growth is entirely dependent on the health of the plant and adequate lighting/watering. If you used a bag of fertilizer, it should say when you’ll need to fertilize next. If you mixed the soil yourself without amendments, you’ll want to add them or fertilize once it acclimates.

I disagree with forcing air roots into the soil. They grow out of the pot/soil intentionally. Air roots support the upper weight of the plant with purpose! They are distinctly different from the roots in the soil, and while they often will stay in the pot, you’ll notice they will grow out of the soil and sit on top for AIR!

I propagated mine last May. I put the cuttings in a jar water for the summer to root. I wasn’t really in a rush to plant them, so the roots got 4-6 inches long. I planted them at the end of summer. My earliest new leaf growth in October and one plant didn’t get a leaf come through until February.

It looks like you planted this a bit deep. The petiole and node should be above the soil line.

I would also recommend directing the rouge root back into the soil if possible.

You should be good for a month or two before you need to start fertilizing. The fresh potting soil should provide enough nutrients until it’s established and new leaves start growing.
