# Hey everyone, my monstera popped out its first leaf and I’m wanting…

_Posted by AsyaNichole🌸🌱 on 2025-03-27_

Hey everyone, my monstera popped out its first leaf and I’m wanting to know if it’s supposed to be this light yellow/ white color? I water once every week and a half, use grow lights, humidifier, and the roots were healthy last time I checked. Any suggestions?

ummm yea the new leaves can be lighter. as it unfurls itll probably darken in color

It’ll be a lighter green color, not light yellow/white. When I have leaves unfurling that yellow/white color, they never unfurl because that means I’ve been under watering and that new leaf didn’t survive 😅… I don’t want to say that’s the case with yours… just sharing my opinion based on experience with my plants.

I figured it was either under watering or the pot might be too big, definitely gonna start watering slightly more frequently!

If your pot is 1” to 2” bigger than the root ball, then it’s fine. If the pot is way bigger than that then be careful with more watering. A pot too much bigger than the root ball increases the chance of overwatering which leads to root rot
