# Hi everyone!! I’ve had this Monsterra for almost two years and it’s…

Hi everyone!! I’ve had this Monsterra for almost two years and it’s starting to take over my kitchen.. any advice would be much appreciated🍃🌿🌱

1- I bought a moss pole but she’s so out of control I don’t even know where to start the support.

2- I’ve only propagated a few but never repotted them back. Should I add them back to her pot?

3- she has little new leaves coming in but they’re yellow/green because they’re not getting enough light. any advice? Do I need to separate her? Do you snip off the small new leaves if there’s no room?

4- she has millipedes but online I’ve read it’s fine because they eat dead compost. But sometimes they munch on her good leaves (pictured). Is it okay to leave the millipedes??

Yes. Give her more light but understand that that’s also going to make her grow even bigger lol. This is the picture I saw when doing my research on the plant when determining whether or not to get one. Massive!! Even when grown indoors. Yours is beautiful but you haven’t seen anything yet! Lol

Also I’ve never had millipedes but if they were eating my plants they’d have to go. Lol

Oh my goodness!!!! My tiny apartment could never😂 I was thinking of propagating and gifting parts of her to friends just to keep her at a manageable size..

That’s a great idea. Share the love ❤️

I dream of having a monstera that big……even though there would be NO WHERE to put her 😂🤣. It’s why I love visiting Arboretums, etc. to see the MASSIVE “houseplants”

As far as the support, depends on what type of support you purchase. Some are best placed deep in the pot. If it’s a stake for example you could try to push it down but you risk damaging the roots. Ideally I’d say if possible wait until your next repot. But that’s not always possible.

Yeah I might wait to open her up.. I have the moss pole which looks like a stake. Do you happen to know what the rule of thumb is for size of pot?

Thank you!! 🙏🏻 I’ll try to hold off until spring

I have two monsteras - one at home and one in my office at work. This is the one at home. The one at the office is bigger than yours and MORE out of control because it’s not staked 😬. Plus provides some screening from the hallway window.

I decided to use wooden stakes (five of them) to make her more upright. She’s about 5 feet tall and in a 10 (12?) inch heavy ceramic pot.

There are a lot of YouTube videos on how to stake a monstera. There is a front and back to the stems and it’s helpful to stake on the back side.

Yours will definitely keep growing. Staking will just control the “spread”
