# I bought this plant from a garden centre at the beginning of January…

_Posted by Spook Kid on 2026-02-26_

I bought this plant from a garden centre at the beginning of January thinking it was a monstera…
It was fully marketed as one, but I’ve since learned it’s actually a ‘monstera minima compact’, which isn’t actually a real monstera. It just kind of looks like one, so I guess that’s close enough for the label 🙃 It’s related to the monstera but botanically, it’s a different genus.
I’m still figuring out all the different monstera types, so I probably should’ve clocked that it didn’t look quite like a monstera 😅

(I do also own a monstera adansonii)

Oh you’ll love it! Very hearty and hard to kill when established (which yours definitely is)!

Give it a sunny spot near a window and enjoy🫶🏼
