# Hey guys, I’ve recently received this monstera, it arrived fairly dry…

_Publié par Tommy le 2024-02-15_

Hey guys,

I’ve recently received this monstera, it arrived fairly dry but with lovely soft leaves. Before I could water it the leaves had started folding inwards and becoming quite rigid, almost like I could snap one if I pressed against them, this happened within about 30 minutes of unboxing it.

I watered the plant until the water meter read fairly moist but it hasn’t improved.

I somehow manage to look after dozens of other house plants but always have issues with my monsteras.

Is this normal behaviour/does it look healthy in the image?

It’s about 20ft from a south facing wall of windows, but it
has an artificial light on it for 12 hours a day (though this plant dosnt have a proper grow light, just a standard light) Humidity is around 60%

This is an image of the plant when it arrived 8 days ago, it does look more droopy now! Eek

you might be overwatering or too far from the sun. try moving it around and see if it likes being closer to the window

similar thing happened when I got mine from trader joe’s (someone there said they pump them with fertilizers that make them perky and green for stores - not sure how true that is)

anyways, check if the bottom of the pot is still wet before you water. you want it to get dry throughout before you water.

also, did you repot it?

I found that if you ignore it for a couple weeks and come back with a consistent watering routine every 10-12ish days (depending on the size and drainage of your plant) you should be good.
