# I got this monstera about a week ago and I was wandering what to do…

I got this monstera about a week ago and I was wandering what to do with the aerial root. I have seen people put it in water but I heard that causes root rot. I have also seen people let it climb. Any advice on this?

Leave it, try and get it to go down into the soil

You can just let it do its thing or if it gets into soil or even a real moss pole, it’ll get more growing power!

I like to direct the aerial roots back into the soil so that it helps with supporting the plant. Picture for reference.
