Hey everyone!  
I just got a Monstera and I wanted to ask you all for any tips on how to care for them and prevent any disease.

I saw a little root popping up from the pot and I was wondering what I should do about this.

I’m also an overwaterer so any tips on how to prevent overwatering on these cuties will really help.

If you’re a overwaterer like me a chop stick will literally be your bff. Stick it in the soil all the way to the bottom to check if it’s still wet before you water! lol

The root is fine, also there will be aerial roots that grow from each stem. If you don’t like them you can chop them or you can just let them grow back into the pot. :)

As for pests, you can get sticky traps for gnats. Cleaning your leaves or spraying with either neem oil or a bug deterrent helps as well. Or I’ve seen you can get mosquito pellets and add those to your soil which helps keep bugs at bay!

Does anyone know how old/tall the leaves need to be before they start splitting?
